Formerly known as the Burj2020 District, Uptown Dubai has been masterplanned by Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG), architects responsible for many upmarket hotels and resorts around the world including the Four Seasons Dubai Jumeirah Beach.
The new district will include more than 10 million sq ft of grade A commercial and residential space providing around 3,000 apartments. These and several luxury hotels will be housed in seven towers standing on a seven-level podium. Two of the towers will be super-talls designed by Chicago-based architects Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill.
The podium, 28 metres above ground, will have a two-level central plaza bigger than New York Times Square. Around the plaza will be world class outlets connected to a retail mall below containing over 200 retail and F&B outlets.
Construction works began in September 2017 with Phase 1, comprising two million sq ft of development, due to start by the year end.
Uptown Dubai’s residential properties will be available for off-plan sales in the first quarter of 2018.
